delete a post

can some one tell me how to delete a post

Next to the post's Edit button there will be a button with an "X" -- this is the delete button.

sorry but I must be looking in the wrong place I do not see a red x next to the post's Edit button

Jay, you probably have the delete button, but we don't.

I've never admin'ed or moderated a phpBB board, but if it's anything like an SMF board there's a setting in the admin control panel to allow/disallow post deletion, based on the group a user is assigned to.

Users are always allowed to delete their own posts, but only if there are not already replies. Everyone has permission to do this.
