Ride from Ikea

Just found out that HKP isn't going to be able to make the ride on Sunday. SSSSOOOOO, anyone who would like to ride with me, I'll be at the Ikea around 8:00 - 8:15am I'm figuring KSU by 8:30. It's about a 3 hour ride on the slab. As of right now, planning on running I96. Picking up folks on the way is always open. Let me know if anyone has a better route, or any stops, and we can figure it out.

The Flying J Travel Plaza is at 7800 W Grand River Hwy, Grand Ledge MI, and is right there off I96. Could we meet up there around 10:15ish?

I'm planning to do Stanton & Cedar Springs charity stops on the way. I think that Andre may be interested also, from our conversation this past Sunday. Would either of you guys be up for this? I'd prefer to hit these on the way to the meeting (weather permitting), in order to get back home earlier. It would add just over an hour to the trip over there, so not a huge deal. So far, weather looks OK.

I'd be willing to do the Stanton and Cedar Springs stops, but that's an extra early start for Dr. Paul coming from Canton.... I'll bet he can manage it though, since he's so used to working all those long hours that he claims he does.

Just kidding. Jay, if you want to figure out a route, and let me know where to meet up with you, I'm more than willing to get moving alittle bit earlier. No problem for me. I'm with you Jay as far as getting home alittle bit quicker in the afternoon. Let me know, Doc

I'm pretty flexible with the time and place where I meet up with you guys, so Jay, it looks like you have the reins to make the plans! Doc, ya wanna make that 3 A.M.???

I propose that Paul, myself, and anyone else from our area, meet at the Red Lobster that's on Novi Rd, just north of I-96 (easy on/off I-96). The time estimate from there is 4h3m. Google Maps' time estimates have been pretty accurate for me lately, but I figure we want to be a bit conservative, so we arrive to the meeting on time. Figure that if we ride with any 1800s we'll need 2 gas stops to get all the way from Novi to the meeting, so we should fill up when we pick up Becky, and then probably after the Cedar Springs stop. Figure 20 mins for the gas stops, 20 extra mins to find good places to snap our pictures, round up, and that makes ~4 hours 45 mins (from Novi).

Paul, would you be up for meeting there at 7:15am? Then we could meet Becky around 8:30 or so. If things go well, we'd probably get to Russo's around 11:45. We could also build in an extra 15 minutes to be safe, in case anyone happens to be running late when meeting up. What do you guys think? Of course, Paul has Mr. GPS riding with him, so we can certainly just use whatever route that it generates, and go from there.

If we change the location where you pick me up to: 14004 S US Highway 27, DeWitt, MI 48820 (Speedway station), and proceed north on 127, then West from Ithaca directly to Stanton, would this save any time?

That seems to change the time estimate from 4h3m to 4h24m. Maybe because the speed limit on Ithaca is slower than on 96 and 66?

Maybe if we can get there just before 7:15 we'd be better... If your auto-pilot can get you there, that is.
